Job Description: GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:The Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs is a key member of the leadership of the Department of Housing and Residence Life. The Assistant Director (AD) will oversee the day to day functioning of the Housing and Residence Life Management Office that addresses resident student facilities concerns; staff, faculty, and student parking programs, and all summer conference housing operations. The AD is a liaison between the Residence Life and Facilities departments during the academic year who works in conjunction with the Associate Dean and other members of the HRL staff to ensure that resident needs and concerns are accurately addressed and quickly resolved.The AD provides direct supervision of two staff members who have responsibility for the Summer Housing operation and overall College Parking operation. Indirectly, the AD supervises student staff members within the department and will be called upon to represent the department at college-wide events or committees. This position will serve in a shared senior on-call capacity to provide high level support to live-in professional staff within the department.Finally, the AD works collaboratively with the Associate Dean and others within the department to support the overall residence hall operation, which may require involvement in strategic planning, programmatic support, budgeting, academic year program support, move-in/out, and other related operational endeavors. Beyond Housing and Residence Life, the AD is a partner with the Director of Facilities to ensure student success is consistently honored. The Assistant Director, with the support of the Associate Dean and Residential Life staff, is directly responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining an environment grounded in justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.Salary and Bargaining Unit Information: The annual salary range for this position is $75,000- $80,000 , commensurate with relevant professional experience and education. This is a full-time, live-off, benefited, exempt, professional APA position.Anticipated Start Date: June 2026ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:Serve as a key member of the overall Housing and Residence Life Department, representing the Department on Governance Committees, at College-wide events, or other capacities as assigned.Responsible for the day-to-day management of the residence hall operations office, which directly manages parking, summer conference housing, and residence hall mailProvide supervision, training, and evaluations for the Office Coordinator as well as the Operations Coordinator. Indirectly supervise paraprofessional student staff.Participate in yearly budgetary planning with the Associate Dean for the Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA) and the College.Solicit summer housing business by engaging with neighboring institutions, Boston-based companies, and individuals.Maintain accurate records of summer program occupants, contracts, and revenue within StarRez.Engage with the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director of Facilities to develop a student-centered approach to managing work orders and repairs throughout the building, as well as the damage billing process.Participate in long-term capital planning and make recommendations for ongoing improvements. Collaborate with the Director of Facilities and/or Maintenance Supervisor in auditing work orders for completion and accuracy. Provide quarterly reports.Assist with departmental assessment relating to operations. Collaborate with the AD of Housing Operations to maintain enterprise software systems for resident students, conferencing, and parking needs.Work closely with Residence Director staff to ensure accuracy of building key boxes, key inventories, key changes, etc.Participate in RA and RD training as needed.Create, maintain, and/or update operations manuals for various operational functions of the department.Share in secondary on-call structure with the Associate Dean as directed.Participate in major Departmental initiatives such as, but not limited to: move-in, accepted students days, move-out, and summer conferences.Other related duties as assigned.Requirements: Bachelor's degree.5-7 years of professional experience.Demonstrated previous supervisory and administrative experience.Demonstrated experience working with residence hall and summer conference operations, or Hospitality Management.Ability to deal effectively with conflicts and crises.Demonstrated awareness/sensitivity toward JEDIMA Driver's LicensePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Hospitality, or other related field.Previous supervision and development experience for staff and students.Strong customer service, critical thinking, consensus building, and problem-solving skills.Previous experience with parking management.Ability to anticipate and successfully manage all aspects of a residential community.Demonstrated experience in working through conflict, change, and uncertainty.Proven collaborative work with external departments, faculty, and campus partners.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of training in Inclusivity and issues of Social JusticeExperience with Summer Conferences and Residence Hall operationsKnowledge of Academic and College policiesExperience with Crisis Management/Case ManagementExperience with Conduct ManagementExperience with housing softwareProficiency or Fluency in Spanish is a plusAdditional Information: Please note MassArt:Does not support employment-based visa sponsorship or non-student exchange visitor visa sponsorship.Is not an E-Verify institution.Selected candidates must be eligible to work in the US at the time of employment, complete all onboarding tasks including a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background review and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US by completing the Form 19, Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.You are required to show proof of your identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of the start of your employment.
