DescriptionPosition Information We are seeking to fill two open Senior Project Manager positions on our Information Technology (IT) team. The positions will work on separate projects within the California School Boards Association (CSBA).Schedule This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three (3) days in-office based out of our West Sacramento office and two (2) days working remotely.This is a full-time limited-term position for approximately a two-year term offering full benefits. SummaryUnder the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Project Manager leads significant technology programs for the California School Boards Association (CSBA) and its members. This position coordinates and drives internal and external resources to deliver technology solutions to business needs while clearly communicating status and outcomes to leadership, vendors, and staff. This position researches and analyzes issues related to program subject matter with a complex understanding of data analysis, software development and lifecycles, program and project management, and strategic planning for the organization. The Senior Project Manager organizes, guides, and directs the activities of cross-functional project teams and prioritizes tasks to ensure delivery of high-quality, robust solutions on time and within scope. This position performs related work as required.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProject & Program ManagementOwn all phases of the project lifecycle from identification through closure, as well as the transition to sustaining operations.Lead project planning efforts by defining scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements.Maintain alignment of program and project outcomes with CSBA's strategic objectives.Establish and relentlessly manage committed project scope, requirements, and deliverables.Conduct proactive change management to anticipate and address changes to scope, timeline, budget, and risk.Ensure adherence to committed schedules, identify and address potential delays, and take proactive and corrective action to keep projects on track.Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including minutes, action items, decision, project status, and technical documentation.Resource & Budget ManagementAllocate and effectively manage human, financial, information, and physical resources to optimize project performance.Develop and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effectiveness throughout the project lifecycle.Identify and address resource gaps in a timely manner.Stakeholder Engagement & CommunicationEngage internal and external stakeholders at various levels to understand requirements, expectations, and concerns.Maintain clear communication channels and manage stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.Provide robust, data-driven status reporting to all project stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, critical path, progress, risks, and challenges.Act as an advocate and role model for CSBA's interests and values when managing vendors, including contractual obligations and confidentiality.Team Leadership & CollaborationBuild and lead cross-functional project teams with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.Foster collaboration, motivate team members, resolve conflict, and maintain a positive team dynamic.Address conflicts and issues constructively and in a timely manner.Risk, Quality & Continuous ImprovementIdentify, monitor, and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle to minimize impact on project outcomes.Implement quality assurance processes and conduct regular quality assessments to ensure project deliverables meet required standards and specifications.Ensure technically robust solutions by leveraging team member expertise and best practices.Capture insights and best practices from each project phase and implement improvements for future projects.Strategic & Organizational SupportMaintain awareness of trends, innovations, regulations, legislative issues, and education policy impacting CSBA.Contribute to departmental and association strategic planning and objectives.Uphold and model CSBA's vision, mission, values, policies, and practices.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceAny combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree or higher with major coursework in computer science, information technology, business administration or related field or equivalent education and/or experience and four (4) to seven (7) years of experience in project and program management of technology implementations.
