Title: Mechanical Production Technician - EV Battery Operations Pay Rate: $19.00/hr Employment Type: Contract (W2 through Tekberry) Assignment Duration: January 2026 - March 2026 (extension possible) Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM Location: Oklahoma City, OK 73149 (100% Onsite) Job Code: 1470243 Tekberry is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Battery Recycling Technician to support EV battery recycling operations with our client, a leader in the automotive and mobility services industry. This is a full-time contract opportunity within an industrial recycling and processing environment. As a Tekberry W2 employee, you will have access to health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage. This position supports the safe handling, disassembly, and recycling of electric vehicle batteries. The role is hands-on, physical, and performed in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment with required protective equipment. Position Summary The Battery Recycling Technician safely processes and disassembles electric vehicle batteries in accordance with environmental and safety procedures. The technician operates equipment, separates materials, and assists with recovery of recyclable battery components while maintaining strict safety and production standards. This is not an office or light warehouse job - the role involves tools, machinery, protective suits, and industrial working conditions. Responsibilities• Identify, sort, and disassemble EV batteries for recycling • Perform precision battery cuts using saws prior to shredding • Load batteries into shredders and crushers • Sort processed materials and recover recyclable components ("black mass") • Operate recycling machinery and material handling equipment • Follow all production Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) • Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance • Track materials and production data in internal systems • Maintain shipping paperwork and inventory documentation • Assist with staging shipments and organizing materials • Maintain a clean and organized work area • Adhere strictly to environmental, safety, and PPE protocols • Support additional operational tasks as assigned Required Qualifications• High School Diploma or GED • Up to 2 years of mechanical, production, manufacturing, or industrial experience • Comfortable using hand and power tools • Basic computer/data entry skills • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness • Ability to follow written operating instructions • Ability to work in a team environment • Ability to pass a medical evaluation and respirator (PAPR) fit test • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs individually and 137 lbs with assistance • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the shift Preferred Qualifications• Industrial, manufacturing, recycling, or automotive experience • Experience working under OSHA or EPA safety procedures • Forklift experience • Technical or trade certification Work Environment (IMPORTANT) This position takes place in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse environment. Employees are required to wear: • Tyvek protective suit • PAPR respirator (powered air-purifying respirator) • Safety glasses • Safety vest • Hearing protection • Steel/composite toe footwear Dust is present in the work area, and protective equipment is mandatory at all times.
