Residence Hall Monitor

POSITION SUMMARYThe Residence Hall Lobby Monitor is a staff member in Residence Life who assists the Residence Hall Directors in ensuring that the residence halls are secure. The overnight shift position is a full-time, nine-month appointment. Responsibilities include maintaining building security by performing the following tasks:TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES Sees that all outside exit doors are securely shut and locked at midnight; Admits residents students of the building(s) arriving after midnight; Checks identification of entering residents and guests; Records information of entering guests and hosts; Prohibits entry of unescorted non-residents and unidentified persons; Observes and communicates activity in lobby, elevator, and perimeter area; Makes routine rounds as directed by the Residence Hall Directors to ensure building is secure; Collaborates with the Office of Campus Safety and confronts and reports violations as appropriate; Enforces University and residence hall policies; Works cooperatively with staff members and students; Works during Thanksgiving and Spring Breaks, as well as Texas Relays; Documents incidents to the Residence Hall Directors and Campus Safety immediately; Maintains a daily incident log and attends all training sessions as directed. Residence Hall management experience preferred;KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Experience working with young adults; Ability to stay awake overnight; Demonstrate sound judgment and maturity; Good communication and written skills; Reliability, flexibility, and sincere orientation toward teamwork and good customer service.SUPERVISION This position reports to the Director of Campus and Residential Life SALARY RANGE $1,6000 Monthly, plus benefits!POSITION STATUS Full-time; in-person.SETTINGFounded in 1875, Huston-Tillotson University is Austin's first institution of higher education.
