Job Description: SUNY Maritime College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Data Science and Machine Learning. The Science Department is a multidisciplinary department and the B.S. in Data Science and Machine Learning is our newest major. The department prides itself on having a collaborative culture that emphasizes pedagogical excellence. The typical teaching load for this position will be twelve credits per semester with small class sizes and will consist of courses in introductory and advanced computer science and machine learning. Students in the major will also have the option to pursue a U.S. Coast Guard Deck License. Description of Duties: Teach core undergraduate Computer Science courses, such as Data Structures and AlgorithmsTeach advanced Machine Learning and AI courses, including Deep Neural Networks and related topicsAdvise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research projectsEngage in departmental service activities and contributing to updating curriculum development and assessmentMaintain office hours for assisting studentsEngage in scholarly activitiesUniversity service including participation on committeesRequirements: Required Qualifications:PhD in Computer ScienceDemonstrated ability to teach undergraduate Computer Science courses and specialized AI/ML coursesPreferred Qualifications:Research experience in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Big DataIndustry experience in AI-driven technologies, data analytics, or scalable computing systemsAdditional Information: Classification: The Assistant Professor 10 Months is tenure trach UUP position. The anticipated salary will be $85,000.00 to $90,000.00 inclusive of an outstanding benefits package (for more information, please see the UUP Full-Time Benefits-at-a-Glance).
