Position OverviewThe Senior Design Engineer - Audiovisual (AV) is a senior technical role responsible for designing and delivering advanced audiovisual and production system solutions, including live event environments and hybrid IP/SDI infrastructures. This position works closely with clients, sales teams, and project stakeholders to transform complex technical and operational needs into scalable, high-performance system designs.As a technical leader, the Senior AV Design Engineer drives system architecture, develops engineering documentation, and provides expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through commissioning. The role also supports engineering best practices, mentors team members, and helps ensure solutions meet performance, quality, and client expectations.This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to influence technical strategy, work on complex production environments, and contribute to innovative audiovisual (AV) solutions in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.Skills & Core StrengthsAdvanced AV and production systems engineeringLive event and broadcast signal flow designHybrid IP/SDI workflow architecture (ST 2110, AES67, NDI, SRT)System architecture and signal flow developmentEngineering documentation and drawing productionMedia networking concepts (VLANs, QoS, multicast, IGMP)Technical consultation and client engagementConstruction and architectural coordinationTechnical risk identification and solution developmentEngineering standards and quality assuranceCross-functional collaboration and mentorshipTechnical presentations and solution demonstrationsSystem commissioning and performance validationWhat You'll DoDesign advanced AV and production system solutions based on client and project requirementsDevelop system architectures, signal flows, and engineering documentation for implementationProvide technical guidance to clients, sales teams, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycleReview project plans and specifications to support technical estimating, planning, and risk identificationCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions align with performance goals, budgets, and timelinesSupport system testing, commissioning, and validation to ensure designs meet specificationsPresent technical concepts and solutions to internal teams and clients when neededReview engineering work for quality and consistency and mentor junior engineersContribute to engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiativesMaintain required certifications and participate in ongoing professional developmentWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsAssociate degree in technology or equivalent professional experience requiredBachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred8+ years of professional experience in AV, IT, or media systems engineeringAVIXA CTS-D certification requiredCompTIA Network+ certification required within one year of hireAdvanced experience developing engineering drawings for architectural or construction environmentsWorking knowledge of International Building Code (IBC) and National Electric Code (NEC) standardsStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skillsAbility to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and exercise sound technical judgmentPreferred QualificationsBICSI RCDD certificationExperience with production control rooms, flypacks, and temporary production environmentsExperience with broadcast test and measurement tools and signal analysis platformsAbout Us:Avidex is a leading player in the audiovisual and IT integration industry, delivering cutting-edge solutions to a diverse range of clients.
