Help Keep Sandy Springs MovingThe City of Sandy Springs is seeking an experienced Field Services Superintendent to lead critical infrastructure maintenance and repair operations across our community. In this role, you'll oversee roadway, right-of-way, and drainage projects that directly impact the safety, mobility, and quality of life for our residents and visitors.This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in the field, excels at coordinating teams and contractors, and takes pride in delivering high-quality public infrastructure projects.What You'll DoAs the Field Services Superintendent, you will plan, coordinate, and oversee municipal street and right-of-way maintenance projects while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards.Key responsibilities include:Manage roadway maintenance programs including street repair, resurfacing, patching, sidewalks, curbs, and gutter replacement.Plan and schedule projects, allocate resources, and coordinate with contractors and internal staff to keep work progressing efficiently.Inspect work in progress and completed projects to ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal standards.Monitor project budgets and contractor performance, reviewing invoices, validating labor and material charges, and recommending payments.Conduct regular field inspections of roads, bridges, and drainage infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and recommend solutions.Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with safety standards, including MUTCD guidelines.Respond to emergencies and right-of-way issues, including rotational after-hours on-call responsibilities.Communicate with staff, contractors, and the public to coordinate work activities and resolve operational issues.Support policy development and operational improvements within the Public Works Department.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED8+ years of experience in roadway construction and paving2+ years of supervisory or management experienceValid Georgia Driver's LicenseNational Incident Management System (NIMS) trainingGSWCC Level 1B Erosion Control Inspection CertificationOr an equivalent combination of education, training, and experiencePreferred QualificationsAssociate's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management12+ years of roadway construction and paving experience5+ years in a management or supervisory roleWhat Makes You a Strong CandidateSuccessful candidates will bring:Strong knowledge of roadway construction, paving materials, and maintenance practicesExperience with utilities, drainage systems, and right-of-way infrastructureAbility to read blueprints, surveys, and construction specificationsExcellent communication and leadership skillsExperience managing contractors, budgets, and infrastructure projectsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities in field environmentsProficiency with computer software for reporting, spreadsheets, and documentationWork EnvironmentThis position involves both office and field work and may include:Outdoor work in varying weather conditionsExposure to construction environments and equipmentPhysical activity including lifting, climbing, standing, and walkingParticipation in Public Works emergency response and severe weather operationsWhy Join the City of Sandy Springs?Working in Public Works means making a visible, lasting impact on the community every day.
