Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh - Position Overview:The Girls’ High School and Middle School Principal is a critical member of the leadership team,serving as a key partner to the Principal and Educational Director. This leader will providedynamic support for students, faculty, and families in the Girls’ High School and Middle Schoolprogram, promoting a culture of Torah values, academic excellence, and joyful learning. TheGirls’ High School and Middle School Principal ensures the successful implementation of theJudaic and general studies curriculum, fosters strong classroom instruction, manages studentsupport systems, and builds a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.Key Responsibilities:Student Support & Religious Growth:● Promote a nurturing, spiritually rich atmosphere aligned with Hillel’s commitment toTorah, Mitzvot, and Derech Eretz.● Serve as a role model of Torah observance and character, actively engaging withstudents in tefillah, limudei kodesh, and school life.● Support students' social-emotional and religious development through proactiveguidance, conflict resolution, and positive behavior reinforcement.● Oversee student discipline in alignment with the school’s mission and Judaic values.Faculty Development & Instructional Leadership:● Support, mentor, and supervise girls’ high school and middle school teachersto ensure excellence in pedagogy, classroom management, and curricularexecution.● Conduct regular classroom observations, provide meaningful feedback, and work inpartnership with the Principal and Educational Director to promote ongoingprofessional growth.● Coordinate and lead girls’ high and middle school faculty meetings and collaborativeplanning sessions.● Model and encourage best practices in differentiated instruction, student engagement,and integration of Torah values into daily learning.Curriculum & Program Oversight:● Ensure the effective implementation of the Judaic and general studies curriculumacross the girls’ high school and middle school, in alignment with school goals andstudent needs.● Collaborate with the Principal and Educational Director and faculty to refine and enhancethe Judaic and general studies curriculum.● Plan events, chagim programs, and other experiential learning opportunities.● Assist the Principal and Educational Director with the selection of the Bnot Sherut andShlichut Hora'ah (Shlichim Families), and to supervise and develop with them, Israeli/Chagim themed programming for the students throughout the year.Strategic Leadership & School Culture:● Partner with the Principal and Educational Director as a thought leader in strategicplanning and school improvement efforts.● Help foster a warm, inclusive, and mission-aligned school climate that values studentvoice and teacher collaboration.Parent & Community Engagement:● Serve as a visible and approachable contact for parent communication regarding Judaicand general studies programming and student progress.● Foster strong partnerships with families, promoting transparent, respectful, andsupportive dialogue.● Represent Hillel’s vision and values in interactions with the broader community.Operational & Administrative Support:● Assist with scheduling, calendar planning, and daily operational logistics related toprogramming.● Ensure effective communication between general and Judaic Studies faculty andsupport staff.● Support school safety, supervision, and daily routines as part of the administrative team.Qualifications:● Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, or a related fieldrequired.● Minimum of 3–5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.● Prior leadership or administrative experience strongly preferred.● Deep knowledge of and commitment to Orthodox Jewish values and Torah education.● Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.● Ability to inspire, coach, and lead with empathy and high expectations.● A collaborative spirit and a dedication to building a caring, high-performing educationalenvironment.
