Program: Special EventsDepartment: Cultural ArtsReports to: Technical Events ManagerCategory: Relief/On-Call, Non-ExemptCENTER'S MISSION: Building a world where LGBT people thrive as healthy, equal, and complete members of society.JOB SUMMARY: As scheduled and under the general supervision of the Director of Event Operations[1] , provide audio support for special events, performances, and routine rental situations at various Center locations.[2] % of RoleESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS85%Event OperationsPrepare and operate audio equipment for events including theatrical performances, concerts, screenings, memorials, receptions, etc. Set up and breakdown of audio equipment.Load in/out audio equipment using a sound plot, under Technical Manager[3] direction, or implement your own ideasTroubleshoot and resolve audio issues before, during, and after events.Mix shows and events independently or with stage manager cueing.Testing audio equipment for volume, tone, and clarity. Provide post-event feedback regarding event execution, equipment performance, and facility use.15%Other DutiesEvaluate audio equipment for repair and maintenance. Load, unload, pack, and assist with transporting gear to and from various locations.Follow safety and security procedures for equipment, access, and overall event operations.Participate in staff meetings, special events, and related activities as requested.Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.Perform additional duties as assigned.0%Management Responsibilities (Budgetary & Direct Supervisory) (If none, indicate 0%.)REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSolid background in live, special, and theatrical events for a variety of spaces including small (50 seats), medium (200) houses, and outdoor and/or alternative spaces.Minimum three years of experience running audio boards for live events. Working knowledge of and the ability to operate audio boards and various audio equipment such as microphones, stands, speakers, cables, etc. Ensuring safe operating sound levelsKnowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues relevant to LGBTQ peopleA passion for the Center's work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and an ability to interact appropriately with visiting as well as on-site technicians, theatrical producers, directors, designers, artists, and clients.Computer and internet literacy and prior experience with complex computer softwareAbility to implement event details from written work orders and to work effectively with minimal supervision, as a team, as a team leader, and aloneDemonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAbility to mix multiple live audio inputs. Experience with Midas, Allen & Heath, and Yamaha audio boards.
