The position includes duties as classroom teacher, leadership curriculum owner, and one of three faculty members who coordinate all extracurricular student leadership activities within the school's Young Leaders Program. Will also perform all other day-to-day duties as a full-time faculty member at Incarnate Word Academy.Hours: 7:30 to 3:45 Monday to Friday, August to MayMISSION, VALUES AND SENSE OF COMMUNITY Ensures that the mission and values of the Academy are upheld within the department.Gives witness to integrity and respect as you represent Incarnate Word Academy in the broader community.Engages and becomes part of the Incarnate Word Academy community.Serves all IWA families with compassion and respect.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICSAs a member of a three-person Leadership Department faculty team, this position requires a professional who:Is able to deliver a high-impact leadership development course.Teaching experience at middle school, high school, or college level?Is enthusiastic about teaching leadership skills to young women.Is capable of and enjoys designing blended learning curriculum /learning modules.Is willing to accept the challenge of becoming a subject matter expert in the discipline of leadership.Has designed and conducted student-led community service projects.Is an avid reader of leadership and personal development literature?Has demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and facilitation skills.Is comfortable using technology (Microsoft products, iPad apps, Google apps and classroom functionality)Is comfortable presenting the leadership program mission to students, parents, and the community.Enjoys working on a collaborative team which promotes daily brainstorming and creative thinking.Will live the Incarnate Word Academy leadership identity and principles as a role model to students.Is committed to a safe, trusting work environment and has a sense of humor.Easily builds rapport with students.Holds a bachelor's degree or above.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICSTrained or working experience in the Leadership Challenge or Student Leadership Challenge (Posner/Kouzes)Working knowledge of Houston non-profit environment.A flair for graphic design and use of related technology to create emotive student response.Certification in leadership development or leadership coaching.SUPERVISIONReceives immediate supervision from Leadership Department Chair and school-wide organizational support from Academic Dean and School Principal.
