The winningest WNBA organization in league history, the three-time WNBA Champion Los Angeles Sparks seek PR & Communications interns for the 2026 WNBA season. This internship program is a hands-on opportunity for students to build their work experience and learn the behind-the-scenes operations of a WNBA communications team. Interns will participate in all areas of media relations and the many facets of working for a professional sports team including creating and disseminating team press materials, liaising with sports media, community outreach, player appearances and external communications. This intern position will report to the PR & Communications Manager.There are opportunities to do and learn more, and you will get out of this experience what you put in. We emphasize hands-on learning and value relationships. Past Sparks PR & Communications interns have gone on to enjoy full-time positions in sports, including in the WNBA, NBA and other leagues!This is a non-paid internship and is for individuals who will receive college credit.KEY PROGRAM BENEFITS:Career-related hands-on experience with a professional sports teamExperience with gameday responsibilitiesHand-on learning from industry leadersOverall skill creation in PR & Communications within a sports organizationOpportunity to explore different avenues of the sports industry through access to various departmentsThis is a fun, fast-paced internship that will enhance your résumé and coursework with a valuable work experienceDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Support Sparks Media/Public Relations at home games for about six hours for each home game (arrive three hours before each game and work until about an hour after each game)Label seats, post media seating charts and photo lane chartsDistribute media credentials, photo arm bands and other materials at media check-in; collect photo arm bands after each gameSupport pre- and post-game press conferences, as well as other media availabilitiesFacilitate media requests at shootaround and following each gamePrint and distribute stat sheetsPost timing sheets on locker room doors and coaches' officesPrint and bring game notes and stats to broadcasters, stats crew and coachesRecord and transcribe key quotes during pre-game and post-game media availabilitiesSupport the writing and editing of postgame notes during each gameAnswer questions from media members at games and direct them to full-time staff for guidanceProvide written and editorial support on Game NotesWrite and edit articles for the Sparks websiteProvide written and editorial support on press releasesSupport credentialingCreate media seating charts and photo lane chartsFacilitate media scrums and interviews at practices, when neededTrack and compile media coverageQUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Must be enrolled in a college or universityMust be a rising sophomore, junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree or are currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institutionMust provide proof that you are eligible to receive college creditInterest in sports public relationsKnowledge of basketball statistics and terminologyStrong work ethicPositive attitude and a collaborative spiritReceptive to learning with a growth mindsetAvailable to work all 22 regular-season home games in 2026, plus preseason and postseason contestsSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Reliable transportation; Some use of personal vehicle or alternative source of transportationAbility to work weekends, nights and holidays is a priorityMust be available for all 2026 Season - Los Angeles Sparks home games (includes pre- and postseason games)EXPECTED AVAILABILITY:Game Days - up to 6 hoursPractice Days - up to 2 hours per weekRemote Days - up to 1 hour per weekPlease include answers to the following questions when submitting your application.When are you available to start?
