Job Description

Description The Southern Region Parks Division (SRPD) of the Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking Seasonal Custodial Maintenance Workers to support the cleaning, upkeep, and daily operations of park buildings, community centers, restrooms, shelters, and related facilities. This position performs routine custodial and light maintenance duties to ensure facilities are clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming for staff and visitors. Examples of Important Duties * Perform routine custodial cleaning of park and community buildings, including restrooms, offices, shelters, and common areas * Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors, surfaces, and fixtures * Clean, deodorize, and disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, and restrooms * Strip, wax, buff, and recondition wood, tile, and vinyl floors as required * Shampoo carpets and clean upholstery as needed * Replace paper products, soap, and other restroom and facility supplies * Collect trash and recycling and properly dispose of waste * Transport custodial supplies and equipment between assigned job sites * Safely and properly use and store cleaning chemicals, supplies, tools, and equipment * Operate custodial equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and mops * Perform minor building repairs and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned * Assist with set-up and breakdown of equipment for programs, rentals, and special events * Assist with opening and closing facilities and monitoring building conditions * Perform snow removal and other weather-related duties as assigned * Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to supervisors * Interact courteously and professionally with park visitors and staff * Follow all safety procedures, departmental policies, and cleaning protocols * Perform related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Required * Must be at least 18 years of age * Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods * Ability to follow verbal and written instructions * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Availability to work assigned schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Preferred * Previous custodial, janitorial, or general maintenance experience * Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment * Experience operating floor buffers, vacuums, and basic cleaning machinery * Interest in facilities maintenance, parks, or recreation operations Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods and safety practices * Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment * Ability to lift, bend, stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks * Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail * Effective communication and customer service skills * Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Supplemental Information May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
