Job Type Full-timeDescriptionVirtucom is seeking Hardware Computer Repair Technicians to join our new team in Chicago, Illinois. This full-time, in-person opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about technology and eager to gain hands-on experience in IT hardware repair and support. As a Hardware Computer Repair Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and restoring the functionality of various devices such as laptops and Chromebooks, ensuring quality service and customer satisfaction.Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Full time position)Work Location: In-person at Virtucom's Chicago FacilityWe are currently in the process of getting our Chicago Facility setup and this is the pre opening recruitment. We plan to have our facility open no later than the end of Q2, 2026. We specialize in providing schools with the tools, services, and support needed to integrate technology into the classroom and enhance the learning experience.We are passionate about serving our customers and communities and providing our employees with opportunities to grow and thrive.RequirementsDuties:Diagnose and repair desktop and laptop computers, including hardware and software issuesInstall, configure, and upgrade operating systems, software, and driversInspect and identify cosmetic and functional defects; document and report findingsDisassemble and reassemble devices using hand tools to replace or repair components (e.g., motherboards, bezels, keyboards)Clean and adjust mechanical parts to ensure equipment runs efficiently and reliablyMaintain accurate documentation of repairs and ticket resolutions in ticketing systemsOrganize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environmentCommunicate with leadership regarding inventory levels and part requestsStay current with repair procedures, quality standards, and service-level agreements (SLAs)Requirements:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 1 year of experience in computer repair (professional or DIY experience considered)Strong understanding of PC architecture and operating systems (Windows, Chrome OS)Proficient in troubleshooting hardware and software issuesComfortable lifting and moving equipment up to 40 lbs.Ability to operate hand trucks and pallet jacksDetail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a teamEffective communication and customer service skillsWillingness to learn, accept feedback, and follow instructionsCommitment to meeting or exceeding repair output expectations and SLAsPreferred: CompTIA A+ certification or currently pursuing certificationBenefits:401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match*Medical/Dental/Vision InsurancePaid Time Off (Vacation/Sick/Personal Days upon eligibility)Opportunity for Career AdvancementAbility to convert from Hourly to Salary based on performance and evaluationBackground Check: All candidates should be prepared to undergo and pass a comprehensive background check to ensure the safety and integrity of our operations.Salary Description $13 - $15 per hour or $27,040 - $31,200 per year
