POSITION SUMMARYThe Logistics Analyst is responsible for monitoring the movement of goods in and out of the organization. This position is responsible for the verification and record-keeping of freight (outbound, inbound and drop-shipment), domestic and international freight, and customs compliance. The Logistics Analyst provides support and guidance to all US-based BCI associates at the Norfolk, Virginia headquarters as well as associates based in all Bauer locations. This position reports to the Planning and Logistics Manager. JOB FUNCTIONSInclude the following, but other duties may be assigned.Create daily shipment log for manager and crating supplierCreate/coordinate daily shipment schedule.Coordinate shipments between Shipping Dept., Production, Test and Planning Depts.Monitor, Distribute appropriate Export Documents if necessary (Commercial Invoice, End User Documentation)Create shipping documents for product shipping (bill of lading (BOL), packing/shipping list)Coordinate daily shipments of less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload shipments (internally and externally).Coordinate and book air/land/sea shipmentsMaintain database records (HTS, AES, EIN, ISF, Entry Bond, FTZ and any others)Communicate with customers (internal and external) shipment progress and statusCompare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, sales orders, or other records.Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.Responsible for the weekly storage log.Assist with the freight claims process.Responsible for monthly reporting of export transitions to Bureau of Labor Statistics (IPP program)Maintain records containing export shipments for accounting's annual fiscal auditMaintain weekly compressor storage and export audit reports.Provide freight quotes to customers (internal and external) within 1-2 business days.Communicate to immediate supervisor/manager the status of needed parts or supplies to ship product. Coordinate with the Warehouse team to ensure all parts are in place for shipment.Responsible for the Export Documentation process for internal and external customersResponsible for compliance with US Customs Regulations (trade compliance manual and program, Compliance/Regulatory Control requirements and documentation)Liaison for the Customs Port DirectorCreate/develop processes and improvements.Develop and Maintain KPI's for freight appropriations.Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.Utilize working knowledge of Workmanship Standards as well as the ISO quality system, Export Compliance and utilize these practices in everyday activities.Interact with Parts Shipping team as necessary to provide assistance/guidance with shipments.Customer service interfaces with employees and vendors (Domestic and International Carriers).Maintain working knowledge of logistics, transportation and regulatory/compliance issues. Lend assistance within the organization on all shipping related requests.Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.Regular and reliable attendance.ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBA/BS in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; OR three plus years of relevant experience or the equivalent of a combination of five years education (may include vocational institute certification of graduation) and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skills and allows successful performance of the job.Minimum one-year experience in less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload shipping.Familiarity with domestic shipping lanes with ability to learn import and export compliance.Working knowledge of concepts, practice and procedures in logics, supply chain, and/or warehouse operations.Knowledge of current Federal, State and local rules and regulations regarding transportation and if possible, customs and compliance.Driver's license with good driving record.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications.Must be detail oriented and able to multitask and prioritize demands.Self-starter, ability to resolve issues and research solutions.Ability to work under pressure and independently with minimal supervision.Demonstrated organizational and creative problem-solving skills.Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively, speak professionally, and learn process and procedures quickly.Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.Ability to understand and respond to customer (internal and external) needs in a timely manner.VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIEINCEKnowledge of Export Compliance.Experience with Made2Manage preferred.Knowledge of manufacturing industry.REPORTS TO THIS POSITIONNo direct reports.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Some evenings and weekend hours may be required at times.
