Position Type: Facilities and Construction/ApprenticeDate Posted: 3/25/2026Location: MaintenanceJOB TITLE: Plumber ApprenticeDUTY DAYS: 240PAY GRADE: N04-13Primary Purpose:The maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing systemsQualifications: Education/Certification:High School diploma or GEDMust have a valid Texas Driver's License and maintain insurance requirements of PISDMust pass drug test and be part of a random drug-testing programMust pass criminal history checkMust be willing to progress in skill level and obtain plumbing apprentice license Experience:None required, Prefer one year experience Special Knowledge/ Skills/ExperienceWilling to obtain a plumbing apprentice license and progress in skill level.General knowledge of tools used in the designated craft.No experience required; one year preferred.Major Responsibilities and Duties :Willing to assist in general plumbing repairComplete work orders as requestedHand and mechanical excavation of plumbing and HVAC linesMeasure, cut, thread, and glue pipe together with supervisionAssist other technicians in department as neededMust have a working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, work order and time entry systemsMust be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergenciesAssist other crafts as neededPerform other duties as assigned Equipment Used:Pipe vises and portable standsPipe threaders and cuttersburring reamers, pipe wrenchesflaring toolsvarious sealing compounds, pipe dies and tapstube benders, impact toolselectrical power and hand tools associated with the tradeSewer cleaning machines pro press toolssoldering torchtrash pumpsWorking Conditions Mental Demands:Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting, must have use of all faculties. Must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms. Work outside. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials.
