Telecommunication Technician Level 2, 3 or 4Position Summary:Alamon, Inc., a Montana-based employee-owned company since 1975, provides installation services to the utilities, energy, and communications industries nationwide. As an employee-owned company, Alamon offers unlimited opportunities for professional growth and development.Alamon, Inc. is seeking a Telecommunications Technician Level 2, 3 or 4 to support its Network Services Department as a traveling field resource.This role involves supporting Network Infrastructure projects across multiple locations, including Regen Sites, MSOs, and Data Centers Nationwide. Responsibilities include the installation of Ciena Optical, Nokia Optical, Infinera Optical, and Nokia Routers.Applicants must have experience handling fiber optic infrastructure, including fiber routing, proper fiber handling, cleaning, and scoping/inspection of fiber connectors to ensure network integrity and performance. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, possess strong troubleshooting skills, and maintain a safety-first mindset while working in live network environments.This position functions as a highly mobile technical resource and requires extensive travel to customer sites nationwide to support deployment, installation, and upgrading activities. Job Description: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunication equipment and systems. Provide central office installation services and adhere to the quality standards required for Telcordia GR-1275, Lumen 77350 / 77385, ATT TP-76300 / TP-76400 and/or Verizon IP72202 ISS 5-1 Core Standards. Familiar with creating Method of Procedures (MOPS) and process all associated paperwork within an EJP that is required for each job. Read and interpret floor plans, rack drawings, and customer-provided work orders. Install relay racking, cable racking, fiber ducting, auxiliary framing and other superstructure elements. Install and sew copper and fiber cables utilizing an array of connector types (RJ45 / wire wrapping, BNC, LC/SC, etc.) Perform lacing, stitching, and sewing. Work effectively with engineers, technicians, and customers. Verify network cabling and connectivity and continuity of various fiber and cable connections. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all equipment, configurations, changes and maintenance activities. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Minimum Position Qualifications: Must pass the pre-employment screening process which includes a background check, drug test and motor vehicle records pull. Have the ability and mentality to work outdoors, in a physically demanding work environment and all-weather conditions, lifting or moving up to 50lbs., and hiking over various terrain. Possess a current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years. Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required. Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.Physical Demands: Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time. Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites. Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions. Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling, or stretching. Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments. Ability to work at heights, handle ladders, along with pushing and pulling equipment. Work Environment: Work environment is in both an indoor and outdoor environment, depending on the job site. May be subject to noise levels which may range from low volume to loud. Exposure to dust, odors, gasses, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible. Where appropriate, wears personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.Travel Requirements: This position requires extensive travel. Lodging is provided while working and traveling for the Company.Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must have knowledge of the Central Office / MSO / Data Center standards. Must have a working knowledge of installing ironwork, earthquake bracing, cable racking and fiber ducting. Must have DC Power (-48VDC) knowledge and be able to install and perform hot cuts as needed. Extensive understanding of hand tools, test equipment, and ability to use a computer to interface with customer products. Possess the skills and ability to plan and coordinate high-risk activity including identifying equipment, cards, fiber cables, and circuit IDs. Ability to map out and run new fibers for integration, fiber rolls, and hot cuts. Communicate effectively, including proficiency in written and verbal communications, with strong listening skills. Possess excellent time-management skills and multitasking abilities.
