THE MISSION OF WORLD CHALLENGEWe seek to rescue orphans and widows from a life of abandonment, poverty, and hunger. By bringing them into loving home, renewed health, emotional well-being, a hope for the future and most of all a new friendship with Jesus. It requires regular in-office attendance, Monday through Thursday, with the opportunity to work from home on Fridays.Job purposeThis position plays a vital role in capturing and shaping the stories of World Challenge's work around the world in support of our mission calling of practicing James 1:27 calling to provide support to orphans and widows in their time of need. This role is responsible for gathering stories, reports, and firsthand accounts-working closely with the Missions team and field partners-and transforming them into compelling, mission-aligned content across multiple platforms. This position brings a forward-thinking, strategic approach to storytelling, helping connect the lived experiences of orphans, widows, and ministry partners to a growing global audience. The position works in close collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications to curate, refine, and deploy the strongest stories in ways that advance World Challenge's mission and deepen donor and audience engagement.Compensation and BenefitsClassificationThis is a full-time, salaried/exempt position.Salary RangeBetween $70,000 and $80,000 a year based on qualifications and experience.Sign-on Bonus - $2,000 (External Candidates)$1,000 paid at the end of 30-days of employment$1,000 paid at the end of 6-months employmentBenefits (Subject to Change)Medical Plan (World Challenge pays 93% of employee premium).Dental Plan (World Challenge pays 100% of employee premium).Vision Plan (World Challenge pays 100% of employee premium).Flexible Time Off6-Sick Days per Year403b Retirement Savings Plan (with up to 5% employer matching).Long Term Disability (LTD) (World Challenge pays 100% of employee premium).Education Reimbursement up to $5,250 per yearWellness Reimbursement up to $600 per yearDuties and responsibilities Content Gathering & CurationInterview in-house Missions staff, field partners, and ministry leaders to gather stories, insights, and updates from the fieldReview field reports and follow up to clarify details, identify story opportunities, and gather additional context as neededInterface with the Missions Team Administrator and Chief Missions Officer to stay informed on initiatives, priorities, & developmentsCollect, organize, and catalog written reports, photos, and related media within project management and asset management systemsDiscern and elevate the most compelling stories and themes emerging from the field for broader communication usev Content Creation & StorytellingCraft clear, compelling written stories from field reports and interviews for use across multiple mediumsSupport the Video team by providing story outlines, narrative frameworks, and background content to strengthen visual storytellingAdapt and edit stories for various channels, including email, social media, print, web, and donor communicationsCollaborate closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to select, shape, and prioritize field content for campaigns and ongoing storytellingv Editing & Brand AlignmentEdit content created by vendors, contributors, and internal team members for clarity, tone, and consistencyEnsure all written content aligns with World Challenge's brand voice, theological clarity, and messaging to expand organization reachMaintain a high standard of excellence, accuracy, and sensitivity when telling stories from vulnerable contextsQualificationsAgreement and alignment with World Challenge's Statement of FaithBA degree in journalism, creative writing or within writing disciplineMinimum 3 years' experience in writing, editing and content strategy with a strong biblical foundationStrong interview and listening skills and able to draw out meaningful storiesDemonstrated mission-driven storytelling and cross-cultural communicationAbility to think strategically about how stories support broader marketing, fundraising, and communications goalsHighly organized, collaborative, and comfortable working with teamsPassion for connecting audiences to the people & impact behind the missionSuperior oral and written communication skills and experienceWorking conditionsThis position works in an office setting with regular business hours Monday - Friday (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Fridays are generally work from home days. On occasion, the employee may be required to work evenings or weekends to collaborate with staff that are deployed internationally.Physical requirementsThis role requires no heavy lifting and is performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
