Position Type: Student Support ServicesDate Posted: 2/3/2026Location: St. Cecilia Catholic SchoolDate Available: 08/01/2026Closing Date: 04/03/2026Reading SpecialistCategory: Full-time contract basisPay Rate: Depending on education & experienceWork Year: School days Aug. - May with some additional training daysStart Date: August 2026 JOB DESCRIPTION:The Reading Interventionist is responsible for providing individual or small group instruction to students who are academically struggling in the classroom. This position will also help develop literacy skills and increase the reading capabilities through literacy materials, reading programs, and a wide variety of resources and collaboration with the teachers, the student support team, and parents. This position supports student achievement in the area of English Language Arts, with special attention to reading. This position is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groupsProvides targeted "push-in" services within the general education classroom.Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-levelCollaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of studentsUses identified research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student needsMaintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progressProvides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progressCommunicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progressAssists with identifying students for placement in intervention groupsParticipates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progressProvides diagnostic assessments for students as neededProvides input for program developmentSupports implementation of assessment tools and data management systemsANCILLARY JOB FUNCTIONS:Attends the appropriate trainings to improve knowledge and skillsProvides staff development opportunitiesPerforms other related duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Experience with working with students with learning differencesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to apply instructional strategies on differentiationStrong organizational skillsAbility to multitask needs between multiple schoolsKnowledge of collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special educationAbility to collect data and make course placement recommendation for studentsAbility to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and familiesWORK ENVIRONMENT:Normal office/classroom environment and moderate noise levelsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Frequently required to talk and hearMust be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipmentQualifications & EducationState Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.Prior experience will be considered.
