The information listed below is not intended to be construed as a complete listing of all duties and responsibilities, KSA's, and physical requirements required of this position since changes to the position may occur at any time or additional requirements may be added over the course of time.SUMMARY: The Simulation Technician supports the Health Professions Division by managing and maintaining simulation equipment, computer hardware and software requirements, and environments used in clinical skills and simulation-based education. The technician plays a key role in facilitating realistic healthcare scenarios to enhance student learning and clinical decision-making in a safe, controlled environment. Qualifications (Required and Preferred) Associate's degree in healthcare, biomedical technology, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Proficiency with computers & AV systems.PREFERRED:Bachelor's degree in healthcare, simulation technology, or related field.Certification such as Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS)Experience working in a clinical, educational, or technical support role.Experience with simulation software (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard)CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES: If applicable, healthcare providers must have current unrestricted license. Job Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent will:Coordinate simulation center activities in collaboration with the Simulation Center Coordinator.Schedule computer lab and laptop carts usage.Set up realistic clinical simulation environments.Facilitate simulation scenarios in coordination with faculty.Perform routine and preventive maintenance on simulation technology.Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment.Provide training and onboarding support for faculty and NSC staff.Document simulation data, maintenance logs, and inventory usage.Support scenario development and case documentation.Coordinate repairs and vendor servicing.Ensure the secure test-taking application is kept up-to-date as well as OS and firmware updates.Maintaining employee hardware replacement schedules.Maintaining classroom technology, computer lab and laptop carts firmware updates and hardware replacements.SOCIAL CONSTRUCTS REQUIRED OF POSITION:Display empathy and positive regard for others in written, verbal and non-verbal communications.Work with colleagues and students by practicing punctuality, respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving, and honest communication.Be friendly and collegial with co-workers, faculty, students, staff, and visitors to the campus.Build trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions.Maintain proficiency as needed and approved by attending trainings, reading job-related materials, and meeting with others in area of responsibility.Dress appropriately for a workplace with frequent customer service interaction and community outreach.Meet all required standards of confidentiality. Knowledge Skills and Abilities & Physical Demands KNOWLEDGE:Operating Systems: In-depth knowledge of Windows 11, including installation, patching and troubleshooting. Some experience of iOS and iPadOS to include basic troubleshooting and configuration.Hardware Troubleshooting: Understanding of computer hardware components (CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, Motherboards) and the ability to repair/replace them.Software Applications: Proficiency with productivity suites, specifically Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, and Adobe Creative Cloud.Peripheral Support: Knowledge of installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for printers, scanners, monitors, and AV conferencing equipment.Principles of simulation-based education and best practice standards.Nursing Simulation Center IT infrastructure, including hardware systems and peripheral devices.Operation of high- and low-fidelity manikins, task trainers, and AV systems.Simulation software platforms and scenario execution.Safety protocols.Inventory management systems and preventive maintenance protocols.Documentation standards for simulation sessions and equipment logs.SKILLS:Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and fix hardware, software, and networking issues.Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to guide users, explain technical concepts, and interact with staff.Technical Support: Installing, configuring, and maintaining software applications and hardware components.Organization: Effective time management, inventory tracking, and maintaining a clean, orderly lab environment. Temple College is a Section 218 employer. All regular employees are mandated by the Texas State Legislature to enroll in either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) however, ORP participation is based upon position.
