Under the immediate direction of the school principal and the coordinator of Special Education, provide speech and language therapy to students; work with the regular and special education classroom teacher in coordinating these services with the classroom program. Representative Duties: 1. Administer various diagnostic and assessment batteries in identifying pupils. 2. Provide individual and small group instruction to pupils in the areas of speech and language development. 3. Confer frequently with parents; apprise parents of child's progress; assist parents in understanding the child's problems and in developing ways to help the child. 4. Cooperatively work with appropriate persons in developing and implementing Individual Educational Programs (IEPs). 5. Serve as a member of the School Child Study and Individual Education Program Teams. 6. Perform the necessary attendance accounting prescribed by the Comprehensive Master Plan for Special Education. 7. Provide a speech and language screening program for appropriate early grades. 8. Attend in-service meetings sponsored by the District, Outside Agencies, and the County Schools; maintain competence through professional growth activities. 9.
