We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Middle School Math Teacher for grades 6-8. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that fosters mathematical understanding, problem-solving skills, and personal growth. This educator will cultivate a positive classroom environment, collaborate with colleagues, and build strong relationships with students and families in alignment with the Minnesota Learning Standards. The Middle School Math Teacher is a full-time, salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package for the full academic year. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Learning Plan and deliver daily math lessons aligned with Minnesota Learning Standards and/or Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Implement a flexible instructional program that supports both academic learning and personal growth. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies (e.g., inquiry-based learning, group discussion, small-group instruction, discovery, lecture) to support conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all learners, including students with IEPs, English learners, and students with unique backgrounds and skills. Provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student's ability level. Translate lesson plans into effective learning experiences that maximize instructional time. Instruct students in citizenship and positive habits of mind. Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, guide instruction, and provide timely, actionable feedback. Assessment, Records, & Reporting Evaluate students' academic and social growth and maintain accurate instructional records. Prepare progress reports, maintain assessment documentation, and communicate student progress clearly with families. Identify student needs and collaborate with other professional staff members to support students experiencing academic, behavioral, health-related, or social challenges. Classroom Management & Student Engagement Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and functional classroom environment. Set clear expectations for student behavior and learning and implement school-wide behavior systems consistently and fairly. Promote a growth mindset, encourage risk-taking in problem-solving, and foster critical thinking and collaboration. Collaboration, Communication, & Professionalism Build effective rapport with students and positive relationships with parents, guardians, and colleagues. Participate in grade-level and content-area team meetings, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), school improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and required school functions. Attend parent-teacher conferences and communicate consistently with families regarding student performance and the school program. Maintain professional competence and stay current with best practices through ongoing professional development, in-service training, and independent growth activities. Qualifications Required: Valid MN 5-12 Math Teaching License. Demonstrated content knowledge in mathematics and effective instructional practices. Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and academic profiles. Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills. Understanding of adolescent development and middle school pedagogy. Preferred: Experience teaching math at the middle school level. Familiarity with standards-based grading, MTSS, and instructional technology tools (e.g., Desmos, Khan Academy, Google Classroom). Bilingual or ESL endorsement.
