The person hired for this role will assess and provide ongoing psychiatric treatment for children and adolescents with mood disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), conduct disorders, autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and other serious emotional disorders. This work will also include assessing and providing ongoing psychiatric treatment for adults with various mental health needs. This person will work closely with staff psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, and other nurse practitioners to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to Hennepin County residents. Location and hours: This onsite position is located at the Mental Health Center (MHC) in the South Hennepin County Human Service Center at 2215 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407. Typical work hours are between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with limited early evening hours. No weekend, overnight or holiday shifts are required. In this position you will: Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' psychiatric, medical, physical, and psychosocial status. Provide ongoing medication management for patients, including assessing effectiveness and adjusting medications for optimum effectiveness with minimal side effects; consult with other providers and family members. Provide direct care, monitoring and/or referral for clients with co-occurring physical/medical conditions and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder. Obtain consultation with other prescribers and/or primary care physician. Provide psychiatric consultation and/or care coordination to other providers. Document all interactions and findings in electronic health records in a timely and accurate manner. Function as part of a multidisciplinary team in support of the MHC goals and mission. Participate in quality improvement efforts aimed at equity and disparity reduction. Need to have: One of the following: Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota and National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (CNP). Possession of a valid license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota. Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
