Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following: Two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A bachelor's degree in nursing plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A master's degree in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A doctorate in nursing or public health. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: • Serve as a regional staff nurse in parish health units or community-based centers, establishing short- and long-term goals and work plans for public health programs such as Maternal Child Health, STD, Reproductive Health, Immunizations, Genetics, Tuberculosis, and WIC. • Perform nursing assessments, monitoring, evaluation, and management of patients in clinic, field, or home settings according to program guidelines and OPH policies. • Provide patient care, including physical assessments, medical histories, lab specimen collection, data analysis, treatment per standing orders, and patient and family education. • Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines within the parish health unit laboratory and maintain emergency equipment as needed. • Collaborate with Disease Intervention Specialists in contact investigations, treatment, and education of individuals infected with STDs. • Coordinate patient access to care, referrals to community resources, and provide customer-focused interactions with patients, staff, and visitors. • Maintain accurate patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), ensuring compliance with meaningful use measures and timely updates. • Provide on-call coverage and emergency care 24/7 during declared states of emergency, participating in emergency preparedness, Mass Vaccination Drills, PODS, Medical Special Needs Shelters, and response to community outbreaks. • Orient new staff, precept students, and participate in community outreach, health fairs, and public health promotion activities. • Maintain professional certifications and licensure, including CPR certification and RN licensure, and perform other duties as assigned to support public health operations.
