The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is a sovereign tribe located in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Bordered by the cities of Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, and Fountain Hills, the Community serves over 10,800 tribal members, and all individuals conducting business over approximately 96 square miles of residential, agricultural, and commercial lands. The Community serves as a full-service government entity committed to the health and well-being of its people and workforce. What the job looks like: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health and Human Services Risk and Compliance Specialist to support our Risk Management team within the Health & Human Services Department. In this role, you will play a critical part in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards. This is a unique role that blends patient advocacy with risk and compliance functions. You will serve as a key point of contact for unresolved patient concerns-working closely with providers and care teams to ensure timely resolution and positive patient outcomes. Your ability to navigate sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism will be essential. On the compliance side, you will assist in conducting risk assessments, monitoring regulatory adherence (including HIPAA and accreditation standards), and completingaudits and compliance reviews. You will collaborate across departments to analyze trends, identify areas of improvement, and help implement strategies that strengthen compliance and reduce organizational risk. You will also contribute to training and education efforts across HHS-helping staff understand compliance requirements, risk awareness, and best practices. Your work will directly support continuous improvement initiatives and help foster a culture of accountability, safety, and culturally responsive care. Apply if you have: * High school diploma or equivalent (required) * Five (5) years of experience in healthcare (required), preferably in risk management, compliance, patient advocacy, or quality improvement * Two (2) years of customer service or patient-facing experience (required) * Experience working with Native American communities (strongly preferred) * Knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance practices, and patient advocacy principles * Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills * Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality * Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) certification within 24 months of hire (required) Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member who closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
