Announcement Open Until FilledGrade 11: Minimum Wage $20.92 per hourDept/Div: Facilities Management/N/A---FLSA Status: Non-ExemptGeneral Definition of Work Performs basic skilled trades work in facility maintenance and repair activities, performing and assisting with maintenance, construction, renovation of all County buildings and grounds, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned supervisor. Continuous Supervision is exercised over assigned community service workers.Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential FunctionsPerforms skilled trades work in the maintenance, repair, renovation and construction of County facilities; completes and maintains records associated with assigned work orders.Performs a variety of building maintenance tasks including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs; repairs and maintains electrical systems and components; repairs roof leaks and ceilings; may assist with low-voltage related workAssists in maintenance of the County's heating and cooling equipment; performs preventative maintenance and routine equipment servicingAssists with the installation, repairs, and replacement of electrical systems including wiring, conduit, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, grounds, controls, plumbing fixtures, and relays.Assists in the maintenance and repair of motorized equipment; performs small engine repairs and maintenance.Prepares interior and exterior surfaces for painting; paints walls, ceilings, doors, windows, cabinets, equipment and building fixtures.Repairs, builds, installs or removes cabinets and shelving systems; operates wood working tools to cut, form, and finish necessary materials.Assists with renovations and reconfigurations of office spaces and assists with office moves; moves office furniture and equipment as necessary.Operates County equipment, vehicles, lifts, and trucks in street and pedestrian traffic, around utilities and in other tight places requiring care and skill.Performs and monitors work safety factors to ensure safety of all personnel and citizens; identifies and reports unsafe conditionsOperates and performs daily general inspection and maintenance for a variety of equipment, such as trucks, trailers, lifts, and similar motorized vehicles and small equipment such as chainsaws, mowers, pressure washers, and weed eaters.Transports assigned community service workers, assigns tasks and provides continuous supervision, prioritizes work orders and ensures assigned work is completed properly.Responds to emergency or after-hours maintenance calls as requiredEncourages and promotes a culture of excellent service.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of related industry, organization and department policies, practices, and procedures; general knowledge of related industry, organization and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances and laws; general knowledge of architectural drawings and installation templates; general knowledge of workorder management system and preventative maintenance reports; ability to use an electrical meter; general knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to operate various vehicles and equipment including boom and scissor lift, bucket truck, and skid steer; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates , ratios and percentages; general knowledge of standard office equipment and software; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED with coursework in carpentry, electrical, HVAC and plumbing trades, or related field considerable experience in building maintenance, repair, or construction activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Physical RequirementsThis work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires sitting, speaking or hearing, climbing or balancing, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm's length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, exposure to vibration, wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).Special RequirementsMust be able to work a variable schedule, including after normal hours, on call and scheduled special events.Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.Valid driver's license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history (MVR).Revised 1/12/2026
