Posting DetailsPosting Details Business Title TRIO Associate Academic Coach (Assistant Program Director) Posting Category Administrative and Professional Salary Grade 06 Salary Plan Professional Staff - SEIU Hiring Range /Pay RateDepartment Trio Department Description This position assists the Sr. Academic Coach (Program Director) with responsibilities associated the TRIO Program. Supports efficient and effective operations of TRIO, including Student Support Services (SSS) projects. Assists the Sr. Academic Coach with the delivery and evaluation of program services to ensure progress and compliance in the area of student recruitment, retention, and graduation of program participants. Advocates for first generation and low-income students in various Cleveland State University (CSU) settings. Supports the Sr. Academic Coach with proposal and federal grant writing and reporting. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.Position Location Main Campus FTE 1 Job Summary Maintains a student caseload encouraging achievement of goals through self-assessment, reflection and connection to campus and community resources, with the goal of graduation. Assists in developing and implementing goals and strategies as an associate professional in academic coaching, transitions programming and orientation, enrollment, retention, persistence, progression, and graduation. Develops, revises and implements recruiting, outreach, and engagement programming. Participates in teams to develop, monitor, and update degree plans, audits, and academic records. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.Three (3) years of experience in advising, mentoring, tutoring, student programming or student services in an educational or programming setting.Experience working with all student population and recruitment efforts.Experience using an early alert/advising system powered by predictive analytics.Preferred Qualifications Master's degree, preferably in student personnel services, adult learning and development, counseling, guidance, education, or a related field of study.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Ability to creatively motivate, empower, and recognize students.Ability to increase retention and graduation rates.Skilled in effective intervention programs and early outreach plans for students.Working knowledge of student development, education policies, and trends.Proficient in written and verbal communication skills, the ability to make effective presentations, have strong public speaking skills, develop, and drive change and effectively communicate change.Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player, in addition to being self-directed, and forward-thinking.Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans.Skilled in problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence, and persuasion.Detail-oriented and capable of managing large amounts of data, maintaining detailed, comprehensive records, analyzing and organizing information, and having time management skills.Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a "Customer Focus" attitude and delivery.Knowledge of working with integrated software systems as an end user and utilizing social networking communications.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.Requisition Number PT0703804S Date grant, position, or appointment expires (For Funds Available, Temporary, and Waiver of Posting 09/01/2026 Special Instructions to ApplicantsApplicant Instructions Offer of employment is contingent on satisfactory completion of the University's verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or University policies or practices, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
