Position SummaryThis is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled welder who leads by example. As a Working Team Leader, you will spend part of each shift welding while also overseeing all second-shift production activities, including welding, machine operation, and general labor. You'll help drive safety, quality, and productivity across the floor-keeping jobs on track, supporting teammates, and ensuring customer requirements are met. This role works across multiple production areas, materials, and thicknesses to keep production moving efficiently and the team working together.Responsibilities:Leadership & ProductionLead and coordinate all second-shift production activities, including welding, machine operation, and general laborSet clear expectations and hold teammates accountable for safety, quality, productivity and attendanceFoster teamwork, open communication, and a positive, respectful work environmentEnforce company policies, procedures, and operational standardsCoach, train, and develop teammates; address performance concerns as neededCommunicate shift performance, priorities, and issues to supervisionTeam SupportServe as the primary point of contact for second-shift teammatesSupport and guide welders, machine operators, and general labor teammatesIdentify manpower gaps and help adjust workloads as neededSupport teammates and model professionalism, reliability, and accountabilityTechnical & WeldingPerform welding daily in flat and vertical positionsOperate production machines as needed to support workflowAssist with general labor tasks to keep jobs moving and meet deadlinesSet up, adjust, and troubleshoot welding equipment and production machinesRead blueprints, work instructions, and production schedulesUse measuring tools to verify parts meet specificationsSafetyMaintain clean, organized, and safe work areas across the shopIdentify and address unsafe conditions immediatelyParticipate in safety initiatives, audits, and improvement projectsEncourage safe work habits and PPE useAssist during emergency situations as requiredQualityEnsure in-process inspections and quality checks are completedUnderstand and apply internal and customer quality requirementsSupport corrective and preventative actionsVerify finished work meets specifications and standardsRequirementsEducation/Training:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredTechnical Degree with 3+ years of welding experience preferred.Lean Manufacturing training and/or experience preferred.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Moderate to advanced welding skillsAbility to weld in flat and vertical positionsExperience with production machines and general labor tasksStrong understanding of welding procedures and specificationsProficient in reading blueprints and technical drawingsAccurate use of measuring and inspection toolsAbility to set up and adjust production equipment for various configurationsBasic computer skillsKnowledge of manufacturing fundamentalsSelf-starter with the ability to multitask and adapt to changeStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenProfessional demeanor with the ability to lead by exampleTravel Requirements:Minimal; limited to Village Companies locationsPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs for short periodsAbility to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the workdayMaterials and Equipment Utilized:Hand and power tools (pliers, screwdrivers, drills, tape measures, etc.)Computers and standard office equipmentForklift and cranePPE including safety glasses, gloves, welding helmet, steel-toe shoes, and hearing protection as requiredWorking Environment:100% manufacturing environmentLow to moderate noise levelsSafety glasses and required PPE must be worn at all timesOnline applications only.
