Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary The OISS Compliance Specialist provides guidance and operational support in training and process integration related to immigration compliance within the front-desk and in-person service operations of the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS). The incumbent is responsible for enhancing OISS workflows to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements across University systems. Key areas of responsibility include managing admissions data, conducting general tax webinars, collaborating with HR and Payroll, and overseeing data entry and integrity within the Foreign National Information System (FNIS). Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: * Ensures institutional immigration compliance by developing and implementing procedures and training aligned with federal immigration regulations. Monitors regulatory changes to assess impact and update processes as needed. Serves as a primary resource for complex and time sensitive immigration inquiries related to front line OISS. Conducts compliance audits and maintains checklists for OISS, HR, Payroll, and related departments. Supports and delivers targeted training on FNIS data entry, international admissions, and document requests for J-1, H-1B, TN and other visa categories. Leads training sessions and webinars across the Danforth and Medical School campuses. * Serves as liaison with WashU IT on development, implementation and maintenance of projects pertaining to the departmental information systems, online data collection systems and datalinks with other University systems to ensure immigration compliance and data integrity. Develops processes of ongoing reporting of immigration data, as well as reporting of periodic events. * Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Will be responsible for reviewing compliance with reporting requirements, as well as carrying out immigration transactions in SEVIS and other systems. * Develops and supports business processes for efficient processing and full compliance of immigration and foreign national payroll processing. Supports collection and reporting of individual and general student/scholar data to outside agencies collecting such data and governmental offices that oversee international student/scholar programs to remain in compliance with federal regulations. * Hires, trains, and supervises office support staff involved in front desk management, compliance, updating visa information and collection and reporting of data. * Performs other duties as assigned. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
