We support a student-centered approach among our faculty and staff.Summary of Position: The Assistant Professor teaches in the Department of Interdisciplinary Arts and is expected to teach a full-time credit load (24 credit hours per academic year, which represents the equivalent of three 4-hour courses per semester), engage in service through committee assignments, advise students, and participate in campus-wide events as necessary to enhance the program's impact on its students' academic development. The Assistant Professor must also be enthusiastically committed to helping students make professional connections in local arts organizations.Essential duties and responsibilities: Teach the equivalent of 12 academic hours each semesterAdvise students, primarily those pursuing the major or minor in IDAServe on academic and college-wide committeesMaintain active professional development activities that can contribute to student relationships with local arts organizationsEmploy a wide variety of skills in the performing arts and teach courses in such representative topics as: acting for stage and film, directing, dance, theatre/music appreciation, arts in society, etc. Specific course offerings can be tailored to individual experiences and specialties.Help the Department Chair of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Arts manage relationships with visiting arts organizations, guest speakers, and theatrical companies.Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in an arts-related fieldDemonstrated experience teaching, directing, or coaching students in schools, arts organizations, and/or professional studiosPreferred Qualifications: MFA or equivalent arts-related degreeExperience as a professional performer and/or professional educator or directorKnowledge of and participation in local and/or state-level arts communitiesHours per week: 40 hours Job Posting Date: 02/25/2026 Priority Deadline: 03/24/2026 Priority Deadline Information: Priority consideration will be given to applications received by the Priority Date; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
