Job Description Major Responsibilities: • Competently operates angiographic equipment used to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to: biopsy, para/thoracentesis, abscess drainages, peripheral vascular stenting, catheter placement, thrombolytic therapy, and embolization. • Acts as a scrub assistant on basic interventional and surgical procedures, receiving direction from attending and resident physicians. • Monitors patients and alerts staff of life threatening changes in patient status. Applies the defibrillator and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required. Provides assistance with emergency procedures, responding quickly and effectively as they occur. • Identifies and processes images, assuring that images are of diagnostic quality. Assists clinical engineering staff in evaluating digital equipment to maintain consistent image quality. • Compares requisitions to physician orders to ensure ordered exam accuracy. • Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images, identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images. • Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies, and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges. • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique. • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: 03:12 PM 07/23/2025 Page 2 of 3 Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required. Education Required: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology. Experience Required: • No experience required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Competent in basic radiology positioning and techniques. Knowledge of basic radiation safety and aseptic techniques. Knowledge of anatomy that includes vascular and/or cerebral. Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members. Ability to work independently. Intermediate computer skills. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to: - lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist. - lift up to 20 lbs. over the head. - carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Adults and Pediatrics from ED, ICUs, Nursing units and outpatients across the full spectrum of radiology exams and diagnoses Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance: BLS ARRT-R Skills required: Confident of their clinical skill sets with ability to work in a fast paced, high patient acuity environment. Good communication skills and attitude of helpfulness and teamwork strongly preferred. Support within the Department: All departments have a lead tech, modality supervisor, and Imaging Manager. Diverse team with various years of experience from new grads to long tenure teammates. Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC Department specific Equipment: 1 Siemens single-plane, 2 Siemens bi-plane, and 1 Cannon bi-plane Floating: If yes, where? No Orientation (facility and unit): Facility tour, departmental tour with introductions. 5 days departmental orientation but flexible based on needs of traveler Scheduling: Rotations: No rotations between weekends and weekdays. Travelers would stay on days and shifts per the contract. On call? If so, what is that schedule? Call varies and is staffed with a fair rotation between full time, part time, PRN and Traveler teammates. Frequency depends on the size of the team based on fair rotation to share the responsibility equally. Holiday Expectations: Travelers will be expected to help holiday coverage unless approved off in advance. RTO: Manager Approval Shift times: We are staffed 24/7/365 so travelers would fill whatever shift is currently vacant. Not rotating but per contract on 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts or weekends based on need. Schedule cycle: Traveler contract are 13 weeks and travelers would work the same shift and times as agreed upon in the contract.
