Med-Surg Nurse (RN) - La Vista, NE

A clinical RN-MS opportunity is available on the Med Surg Neuro unit located in La Vista, NE. This is a contract position on the 4th Floor North nursing unit specializing in medical-surgical and neurological care for a 25-bed patient area. Key Responsibilities: Care for MedSurg/Tele patients including stroke cases, post-neurosurgery, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, COPD exacerbations, and infections. Administer and titrate medications such as heparin, lidocaine, ketamine, and PCA pumps under physician orders. Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs (ratio 1:10-20), and tele/monitor technicians. Participate in hourly rounding and assist with managing frequent admissions and discharges. Float as needed to other MedSurg units and handle multiple patient care demands efficiently. Maintain adherence to policies including prohibition of artificial nails in patient care areas. Qualifications: Valid RN license with no background or license issues. BLS and NIHSS certifications are required. Strong telemetry awareness; tele techs provide strip interpretation. Willingness to pass a pass/fail open book orientation exam with required 90% score. Driver's license required; candidate must reside within 50-mile radius and not be affiliated with any related healthcare systems. Prefer candidates with travel nursing experience but strong candidates without will be considered. Fluency or experience with diverse cultural backgrounds (including Spanish, Karen, Burmese) is beneficial. Schedule: Shifts: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700 with travelers scheduled and limited block scheduling allowed. Weekend requirement: Every other weekend. Holiday requirement: 2-3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year. Dress code: Navy blue scrubs provided. Orientation: Two days unit-specific.
