American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/27/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 27, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro Telemetry position at a Level I Trauma facility, requiring BLS, NIHSS, and a minimum of 2 years of experience. Details Work on a 25-bed Med/Surg Telemetry Neuro unit (4th Floor North) in an acute care, Level I Trauma hospital setting Patient population includes strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery cases, joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6; CNAs/patient care techs available at a ratio of 1:10-20 Telemetry techs on unit interpret strips; RNs are expected to have general telemetry awareness RNs required to titrate Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; PCA pumps also used Charting via Epic (experience required) 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700) Every other weekend required 2-3 holidays required between Thanksgiving and New Year's Floating required to other medical/surgical areas or units with Med/Surg overflow patients 13-week contract Requirements Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license - must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Active BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Med/Surg and/or telemetry experience required Epic EMR experience required A driver's license is required for consideration and will be used to verify permanent address Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (permanent address verified via driver's license) No active license violations or background hits Additional Information Unit serves a diverse patient population including Spanish-, Karen-, and Burmese-speaking patients High-volume unit with frequent admissions and discharges daily; success requires strong time management, attendance, and teamwork Strong focus on hourly rounding and patient responsiveness Mechanical lifts available in every other room Orientation consists of 2 days of unit/department-specific training, including an open-book pass/fail skills exam (90% passing score required) administered on the first Friday of orientation Travelers are scheduled; limited block scheduling may be approved Navy blue scrubs required for RNs Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas Travel experience preferred but strong candidates without travel experience will be considered Candidates may not be currently or have been within the past year employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered) American Traveler Job ID P-684264.
