Job Title: Family Nurse Practitioner Location: Dayton, OH 45417 Duration: 6 months to long term Shifts: 8:30 AM 4:00 PM (40 hours weekly) Facility: Dayton Correctional (DCI)Job Duties: • Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols for guidance. • Inoculates or vaccinates against communicable diseases & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows. • Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions. • Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly. • Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate. • With the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), facilitates the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non-formulary medications as necessary. • Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled. • Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable. • Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO. • Writes up medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters. • Cooperates with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance. Requirements: • 1 + years NP experience in a primary care setting or hospital medicine (not urgent care) • Active Nurse Practitioner license for the state of OH. • Active BLS/CPR.
