SUPERVISOR: Head Swim & Dive Coach / Aquatics Director DEPARTMENT: Aquatics OVERVIEW: We are seeking a highly motivated, autonomous, and strategic Club Swim Head Coach to lead and expand our youth swim team, with the goal of increasing membership from the current 45-50 swimmers to 70-80 over time. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader-someone who can operate independently, demonstrates a clear vision for growth, and is prepared to build upon our established foundation. Our thriving swim lesson program provides a consistent feeder system; this role requires the strategic oversight and follow-through to capitalize on this resource. The Club Swim Head Coach will also contribute to the strategic development and management of the spring and summer aquatics programs, including seasonal camps, group instruction, and introductory classes. During the spring and summer seasons, the Club Head Coach will collaborate closely with the Lead Assistant Swim Coach (College Program) to ensure the successful operation of the overall Aquatics Program. This position includes supporting the college swim and dive program, specifically assisting with practice logistics, meet operations, and community outreach initiatives. This position offers potential for expansion based on the successful achievement of swim team growth metrics and summer aquatics program goals under the coach's leadership and vision. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Club Swim Coaching Duties Plan and lead engaging practices that build strong, confident swimmers ages 5-18. Work with swimmers of varying abilities to develop technique, endurance, and love for the sport. Create and manage season plans, daily workouts, and dryland sessions. Monitor athlete safety and behavior on the pool deck. Provide a positive, growth-minded environment for youth athletes. Serve as a role model for swimmers, promoting discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Actively participate in at least one swim meet per month. Be available for practices 3 times/week in the off-season and 5 times/week during the regular season (evenings and weekends). Maintain regular communication with families and staff. Help promote the club program through outreach and by building relationships in the community. Support discipline and team policies consistently across age groups. Prepare swimmers for long-term development in the sport, whether for high school or collegiate levels. College Team Support Help coordinate college team gear, operational support, and equipment managment. Spring/Summer Aquatics Program Assist with planning and execution of spring and summer swim lessons and camps. Collaborate with the Lead Assistant Swim Coach to facilitate seasonal programming and staffing. Help grow participation in youth lessons through marketing, outreach, and retention strategies. Provide leadership and mentorship to seasonal staff working in the aquatics program. Administrative & Operational Tasks Ensure swim team equipment is stored safely and the deck is cleaned after practices. Maintain swimmer attendance and track progress over the season. Collaborate with the Aquatics Director on team schedules, staffing, and logistics. Be familiar with emergency procedures and capable of executing the EAP if needed. Communicate clearly with team leadership and follow risk management procedures. Be willing to attend staff meetings and contribute ideas for program improvement. PERFERED QUALIFICATIONS: At least 2-3 years of competitive swim coaching experience (club or summer league preferred). CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain). Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain) Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Able to work independently and take the initiative to grow the team. Must be available evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions. Able to lift up to 25 pounds and remain alert for extended periods. Serve as a Christian role model in conduct, speech, and leadership. Represent Biola University and the swim program in a professional and Kingdom-minded manner. HOURS: Starting at 20-25 hours per week with potential to expand.
