Role Summary As a School Nurse, you will provide comprehensive health services to students and staff, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for learning. Working in a student-centered environment, you will manage chronic health conditions, provide emergency care, conduct health screenings, and maintain meticulous immunization and health records. You will work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, and school staff to develop Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and foster a culture of wellness across the campus. Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Clinical Professional: Valid Missouri license as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Certification: Valid CPR/AED certification (BLS), required. Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred. The "Wellness Advocate": You have strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently in a non-clinical setting while maintaining professional medical standards. Equity Champion: You are committed to addressing health disparities and ensuring that every student receives high-quality, culturally responsive care. Relational Expert: You have the "bedside manner" to calm a nervous Kindergartener and the professional clarity to consult with physicians and state health agencies. Your Impact (Key Duties) Direct Care: Provide high-quality nursing care for students with injuries, acute illnesses, and chronic conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or seizures). Medication Management: Safely administer and track medications and treatments in accordance with district policy and state law. Health Screenings: Coordinate and conduct mandated vision, hearing, and dental screenings to identify and remove barriers to learning. Crisis Leadership: Serve as a core member of the building's emergency response team, providing triage and stabilization during medical emergencies. Community Resource: Act as a bridge between families and community health providers, helping parents navigate insurance and healthcare access. Your Leadership Partners Primary Support: Building Principal Clinical Oversight: Coordinator of Student Support Services The Logistics of Your Success Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff (Shares the same employment terms as a Certified Teacher). Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar (187 Contract Days). Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and nursing education level.
