Job Details Location: Springfield, IL 62781 — Springfield healthcare, Illinois nursing jobs, travel nurse opportunity Job Title: Travel Med/Surg RN – Urology/Nephrology (Registered Nurse) Unit: Urology/Nephrology – 25 bed Med/Surg unit Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: April 6, 2026 Shift: Nights — 3x12-hour (18:45 - 07:15) Hours per Week: 36 Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Patient Census: Average daily census of 23 Charting: Cerner electronic medical record experience required Parking: Free with permit Scrubs: Any solid color Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000-$2100 Job Requirements / Qualifications Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience (including MS/Tele) — ideal for Registered Nurses and experienced travel nurses Previous charge nurse experience required Active Illinois RN license (in-hand or in application process) — Illinois nursing jobs candidates encouraged to apply BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) Proficient with Cerner charting system Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills (Telemetry, Rapid Response Teams) Genitourinary / renal case experience (pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure, kidney transplant care) IV therapy and phlebotomy skills (blood product administration, central line draws, PICC line management, starting IVs) Medication administration competency (including heparin) Respiratory care skills (chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, suctioning, portable oxygen) Knowledge of isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac management Ability and willingness to float to other Med/Surg units as needed Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted) Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients with urology and nephrology diagnoses and post-surgical needs Care for complex conditions including kidney stones, enlarged prostate, urologic cancers, and end-stage renal disease Perform pre- and post-operative care for kidney transplant patients and assist with transplant-related nursing tasks Administer IV therapies, blood products, and medications safely and according to protocol Continuously monitor cardiac and respiratory status; respond to emergencies and participate on rapid response teams Deliver wound care, manage isolation precautions, and operate wound vac systems Float to other Med/Surg units to support hospital operations when needed Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner electronic medical record Serve as charge nurse on assigned shifts when required Why Join This Travel Nursing Opportunity Work in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital with strong clinical support Gain specialized urology and nephrology experience, including transplant care Estimated weekly pay: $2000-$2100 Supportive interdisciplinary team and professional growth in a welcoming Springfield, IL community Apply now to be considered for this Travel Med/Surg RN opportunity in Springfield, IL.
