Construction Accountant $ 55000 - $ 65000 / Year High Point, North Carolina Accounting & Finance Contract to hire The Construction Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of construction projects and corporate accounting functions. This role focuses on job cost accounting, accounts payable processing, general ledger support, and accurate financial reporting across multiple projects or divisions. The Construction Accountant works closely with project managers, vendors, and internal accounting teams to ensure costs are tracked correctly, financial data is accurate, and month-end close processes are completed in accordance with GAAP. Key Responsibilities Track and maintain job cost accounting, ensuring expenses are properly allocated to projects and cost codes Monitor project costs versus budgets and assist with variance analysis Support Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and project cost reconciliations Assist project managers with financial reporting and cost inquiries Process high-volume vendor invoices in a construction environment Perform three-way matching (purchase orders, invoices, and receipts) Ensure invoices are coded correctly to jobs, cost codes, and general ledger accounts Resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies in a timely manner Maintain accurate vendor records and documentation Assist with month-end and year-end close activities Prepare and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts Support journal entries, accruals, and account analysis as assigned Perform bank and credit card reconciliations Research and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies Support cash management and reporting activities Maintain organized documentation to support audits and internal controls Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) 25 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits Experience with job costing, accounts payable, and general ledger accounting Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Pay Details: $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 per year Search managed by: Will Stevens Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
