Senior Accountant I'm currently partnered with a rapidly growing, multi-million-dollar OEM of a large industrial food manufacturer near Elk Grove Village, IL that is looking to add a Senior Accountant to join their team! In this role, you'll lead month-end closes, prepare financial statements, analyze accounts, manage reserves, project revenue, and inventory costs. You'll also drive cost analysis, support audits, enhance processes, manage sales tax, and play a key role in ERP implementation-making a meaningful impact across the business. They are looking for a candidate with a strong desire to grow within the company. In this role you will have significant visibility, the opportunity to take ownership of processes, develop professionally, and grow into the primary driver of the department over time. Job Description Prepare and review periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) Lead close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis Monitor and maintain accuracy of general ledger accounts Evaluate and record key reserves (e.g., bad debt, warranty, accruals, inventory-related estimates) Analyze inventory-related costs, including variances and obsolescence considerations Support revenue recognition for long-term or project-based work in line with applicable standards Oversee close and financial tracking across operations, projects, and inventory Coordinate reporting submissions to a parent organization Assist with audit requests by compiling support and addressing auditor questions Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen internal controls Review operational and project cost performance, highlighting key variances Track and report on order activity, including pipeline and backlog metrics Ensure accuracy and consistency of inventory costing Perform ad hoc cost analysis and support cost optimization initiatives Provide backup support across transactional accounting functions as needed (AP/AR) Handle indirect tax compliance, including sales tax filings and reporting Contribute to system implementations and process improvements within the ERP environment MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
