Senior Mainframe Engineer

Job Title: Senior Mainframe Engineer Location: Plano, TX Work Mode: Remote Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe Engineer with strong expertise in CICS, MQ, and WAS on IBM z/OS environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing mainframe systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and seamless integration with application teams. Key Responsibilities:• Install, configure, and maintain CICS Transaction Server and associated third-party software.• Monitor CICS environments to ensure error-free operation and high availability.• Perform administrative tasks such as defining new regions, removing obsolete regions, and applying RSU maintenance.• Upgrade CICS and MQ versions and optimize transaction response times.• Generate and analyze performance reports, tune system parameters, and improve overall CICS performance.• Provide support and troubleshooting for MQSeries on z/OS, including installation, upgrade, and maintenance of MQ applications.• Monitor and manage MQ objects and Queue Managers to maintain subsystem availability.• Perform backups, delete messages, and manage MQ channels as required by authorized teams.• Collaborate with application teams for system and application-related region modifications and transaction ABEND analysis.• Review and maintain automation and dependencies for system tasks. Required Skills & Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.• Strong experience in CICS, MQ, and WAS on IBM z/OS environments.• Expertise in installation, configuration, maintenance, and version upgrades of CICS and MQ.• Solid understanding of debugging, problem analysis, and system performance tuning.• Knowledge of mainframe operations, region management, and transaction monitoring.• Experience in supporting application teams and managing MQ objects and subsystems.• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
