Temporary positions are available in the Department of Public Works for the summer season (May through August) and the work schedule is approximately 40 hours per week (based on department needs and weather conditions.) Hours are typically 7:00am - 3:00pm, but may vary based on division. Pay is $16.88 per hour. Positions are available in Street Operation, Parks, Forestry, Landscaping, and Water. Essential Functions Responsibilities will vary based on division, but may include: Forestry Division Maintain shrubs at municipal buildings Assist Arborists with Forestry operations Parks Division Mowing and string trimming Basic custodial tasks: cleaning public restrooms, sweeping, mopping Garbage & recycling collection Litter pickup Low frequency playground inspections Street Operations Division Assist street crews with concrete and asphalt roadway maintenance Yard waste collection, which includes an extra $2.00/hour stipend Public receptacle garbage and recycling collection Refuse cart repair Indoor facility maintenance Water Department Fire hydrant painting and inspection Water valve operation and inspection Building and site maintenance Assist water staff as needed Minimum RequirementsA minimum of 18 years of age A valid driver's license Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to perform manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Additional Information Receives direction and supervision from the division superintendent, supervisor or others as directed by management.
