BICSI Certified Installer

This is a Union position. If not already a member of a Wisconsin electrical Union, you will need to be willing to join. Uihlein Electric will happily guide you through this process. A BICSI Installer Certification is a MUST HAVE to be considered for this role. Non-certified individuals need not apply.Uihlein Electric is seeking a BICSI Certified Installer to install, terminate, test, and maintain low-voltage structured cabling systems. This role involves working with copper and fiber infrastructure in commercial and industrial environments while following BICSI standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.Key Responsibilities Install, terminate, label, and test copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling Install and support pathways including cable tray, J-hooks, conduit, and raceways Perform cable testing, troubleshooting, and certification using industry-standard tools Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders Maintain compliance with BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC, and local codes Document installations and test results accurately Work collaboratively with project managers, supervisors, and other technicians Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe work environment Follow all safety policies and job-site requirementsRequired Qualifications BICSI Installer Certification (Installer 1, Installer 2, or higher) Experience with structured cabling systems and low-voltage installations Knowledge of copper and fiber termination standards Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship Valid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred Qualifications Fiber optic termination and testing experience (fusion/splicing a plus) Experience in commercial, healthcare, data center, or industrial environments OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Manufacturer certifications (Panduit, CommScope, Corning, etc.)Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
