The Assistant of School Safety and Security is a 10-month position. The individual in this role performs essential administrative tasks to develop, implement, and manage programs designed to address comprehensive security and school safety needs. The employee is responsible for coordinating a holistic school safety program, which includes collaborating with local law enforcement agencies to create, monitor, and coordinate the School Resource Officer (SRO) program. Coordinates a comprehensive security/school safety program. Develops performance objectives for safety personnel and operational procedures to guide personnel in performing their duties. Establishes clear lines of accountability and command within the school safety forces. Serves as a liaison with local law enforcement agencies to monitor the daily operation of the district safety and security program and other law enforcement issues on the school campuses. Works with local law enforcement agencies to encourage community-policing efforts on school campuses. Assists in the development and implementation of security plans for special events involving the school facilities within the jurisdiction of Penn-Delco School District. Provides training and assistance to administration, faculty, staff, and students in matters of safety and security. Advises and assists site-based administrators in matters involving criminal activities on school campuses. Participates in the development and maintenance of a District-level Crisis Response Plan. Assists/advises in the development of crisis management/emergency response plans as part of each school's safety plan. Directs/coordinates the periodic assessment/audit of school facilities and grounds to determine safety and security issues. Coordinates with district administrators to address and correct safety/security issues on school campuses. Serves as a liaison with other agencies in matters of safety and security such as the Homeland Security, Pennsylvania Department of Education, Intermediate Units, and other agencies. Provides periodic reports to the Assistant Superintendent and the School Board on matters pertaining to school safety. Participates in local, regional, and national organizations to ensure all certifications and training credentials are current. Works directly with local law enforcement agencies during critical incident situations and follow-up. Implements training programs pertaining to matters of safety and security for site-based. Receives all reports of criminal incidents occurring on school property and maintains statistics regarding this information. Works with the school safety committee and community safety initiatives. Monitors and utilizes surveillance and investigation protocols for residency investigations. A bachelor's Degree in emergency management, paramedical studies, or related fields of study is preferred. Required plus one or more of the following: Certified Emergency Manager certification, and/or FEMA Emergency Management certification. Five or more years of law enforcement or related experience, including management and leadership experience and training in de-escalation strategies, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
