SUMMARY OF POSITION:Design Engineer is responsible for design engineering support of new and existing product, including part, tool, fixture, and gage design in a metal stamping, fabricating and assembly environment, under direction of Director or Design Engineer.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Customer assistance on product designCustomer feedback on design for manufacturabilityParticipation in internal and customer product and print design reviewsReview of tolerance schemesTool design for sheet metal punching, forming and fabricatingTool design for metal stamping in DiNamic press and standard tooling for slide machinesFixture design for welding and / or assemblyGage, staging fixture and / or comparator traces for part quality inspectionEstablish and maintain design timelineCollaborate with tool building team to build tools, fixtures and gagesSupport production and Manufacturing Engineering teams during early product development and validationAssist internal teams on other engineering functions as requiredParticipation in cross-functional product launch teams within the framework of APQPOther duties as assigned or requiredQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.Associate's degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent experience3D CAD proficiency required, SolidWorks preferredFamiliarity with LogoPress preferredMinimum 5 years related design experienceMinimum 3 years experience in manufacturing, metal stamping or fabricationFamiliarity with APQP process preferredMS Office proficiencyEstablished organization and project tracking techniquesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to sit and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. 1st Shift
