Description The Cardiac Device Clinic is a patient centric department that delivers various stages of care, from inpatient to clinic to home via remote monitoring. This unique, hybrid role provides experience with at least 5 different device companies to become proficient in assessing cardiac device function, programming/reprogramming cardiac devices, and cardiac rhythm interpretation/arrhythmia burden. UH CMC Device Clinic works in collaboration with the Electrophysiologist to ensure that patients' cardiac devices are functioning properly and that rhythm/function issues are addressed thoroughly. Device Clinic RN is an autonomous role that remains part of a cohesive team that continually incorporates education for new technologies, refreshers on common/fewer common algorithms & device programming.  Ask your recruiter about our $6K sign-on bonus available to RNs with 1 or more years of RN experience.  What You Will Do  This is a unique role that integrates three core functions: inpatient care, ambulatory/outpatient services, and remote monitoring. The expectation is to rotate regularly among all three areas, as they work collaboratively to deliver comprehensive cardiac device management. A strong understanding of the importance of each function is essential to providing high-quality patient care. The role requires the ability to work autonomously while remaining an active member of a multidisciplinary team. Travel is an expected component of the position, about 50% of the time, with coverage across CMC, Ahuja, Chagrin, Minoff, Richmond, Twinsburg, Hudson, Euclid, Mentor, Concord, Chardon, Geauga, Conneaut, and Medina. (Westlake and Geneva are NP clinics.)  Inpatient: answer calls to see patients in the OR, MRI, EP/Cath labs, etc. for checks, programming/reprogramming and device function troubleshooting, also provides discharge instructions for wound care, follow up appts and remote monitoring.  Ambulatory/outpatient: see patients in clinic for routine follow up, wound checks, reprogramming, addressing remote alerts, troubleshooting device function  Remote monitoring: Part of standard cardiac device follow-up (once /yr in the office and every 3 months remotely), reading /addressing device alerts (rhythm issues or device function), communicating with patients healthcare team when needed.  Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship-based nursing care.  Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.  Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.  Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing.  Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes.  Additional Responsibilities  Performs other duties as assigned.  Complies with all policies and standards.  For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.  Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.  Qualifications Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN or MSN preferred.  Previous cardiac device experience in a hospital setting or with a device company is preferred (e.g., EP/Cath lab, ICU, or telemetry). Familiarity with cardiac rhythm interpretation and cardiac medications is also preferred.  Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire) and  Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.  Shift:  Hours: The department is staffed from 7:00am-5:00pm and staff is working 3-10hour shifts. The expectation would be to train full-time for ~6 months.
