Overview Set up and operate manual and automated cutting equipment in order to cut material to length. Produce high quality products that meet the customers' requirements in accordance with Fort Wayne Metals mission and certifications. Education & Experience Requirements Experience in a production or assembly environment preferred. Job Responsibilities: Set up and operate multiple types of cutting equipment used in the department and be able to effectively make adjustments to operating parameters of that equipment. Configure different sizes and styles of roller straighteners in the set-up process for numerous different types of materials. Ability to set up and operate a furnace while maintaining appropriate atmosphere for the material. Calculate length conversations, follow detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, blueprints, and procedures in order to set equipment up properly. Visually inspect material coming off resources, acting as first line inspection, to ensure quality of product. Take action for material not meeting quality expectations, as necessary. Ability to understand the individual proprieties of the various alloys and materials used in the department and how they are affected by different factors. Use micrometers, calipers, tooling scopes, and other job specific measuring equipment to perform tolerance checks. Follow all procedures for traceability, line clearance, process control, safety, and housekeeping. Read and understand production order to identify work priority and requirements to correctly run jobs. Package completed jobs. Perform other duties as requested by management. Skills Needed: Ability to perform basic computer functions. Possess intermediate math, reading, and writing skills. Mechanical aptitude, preferred. Strong attention to detail. Good hand dexterity. Understand and apply safe work practices. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:Fast-paced production environment. Work hours consist of 40 hours per week. Overtime may sometimes be required. May work with and around hazardous chemicals. Appropriate PPE must be worn where posted and required. Exposure to fluctuating temperatures may occur. Average weights in production range from 10-25 lbs. Maximum weights may exceed 75-80 lbs. on occasion. May be required to perform work above shoulder height. Frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting. Must be able to access all areas of operation. Standing/walking most of shift. Visual acuity.
