For more information on Dexter Magnetic Technologies, please visit: Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the manufacturing process development of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for new and existing products. Evaluates and troubleshoots process issues focused on improving SQDCI - Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory. Leads manufacturing cost reduction and productivity improvement projects and collaborates with the cross-functional team to ensure machining and assembly processes are low risk for safety and quality, efficient and at low cost. Major Responsibilities - reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:Lead the development, design and validation of existing and new manufacturing and assembly processes utilizing 3D solid-modeling and software with a focus on employee safety, ergonomics, and lean concepts. Development should include consideration for direct labor differing language and skill capabilities. Follow the New Product Introduction (NPI) Stage Gate process by executing the following: Ensure manufacturing process accommodates final machining to achieve geometrical tolerances. Determine manufacturing method and estimate setup/run times. (takt time/cycle time analysis) Develop control plans and inspection methods. Define all materials, tooling, fixturing, adhesives, methods of manufacturing, etc needed and ensure safety and quality are taken into consideration. Create high quality standard work that reduces human error. Apply GD&T as required to designs, and components drawings. Works effectively with CNC programmers and machine operators to develop manufacturing processes Work with all affected areas on safety observations, PFMEA, cost reductions, ECR's/ECN's, DMR's and part obsolescence. Improve productivity, efficiency, safety, and throughput while eliminating waste by continuously improving designs, fixturing and processes. Communicate with and provide manufacturing expertise to; Suppliers, Customers, Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, Purchasing, and Sales. Work to meet your personal and department manufacturing engineering goals and KPIs. Investigate and provide root cause analysis when KPIs are not met. Implement approved corrective actions. Works with the production department to improve existing processes and recommends changes to enhance quality and productivity. Updates existing standard work and setup/run times. Works closely with operators to drive continuous improvement. Performs manufacturing engineering tasks as part of a New Product Introduction Team. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred. Knowledge of magnetic materials and applications a plus. GPA of 3.0 or above from an accredited engineering school preferred or equivalent combination. Demonstrated problem solving skills Demonstrated Ability to Define and Complete Projects. Lean Manufacturing - 6 Sigma Training a plus. 3D CAD Skills in Solidworks, ProE or other 3D package preferred. Strong drafting and GD & T skills with the ability to perform tolerance stack up analysis desirable. Working knowledge with ERP/MRP Systems (Epicor Preferred); part entry, BOM creation, job routing creation, cost estimation, DMR disposition, create purchase requisitions, sales order and purchase order lookup. Business Acumen: Understands policies, practices, technology, trends, and information and how those affect the business; including written communication.
