JOB TITLE: QA Automation Engineer JOB LOCATION: Boston MA (3 days Remote, 2 Days Onsite) WAGE RANGE: $75-$77/hr W2 (Open to C2C) JOB NUMBER: IT26420CAP JOB DESCRIPTION: This role will support the IT QA automation initiative, with focus on definition, review, assessment, and implementation of an automation framework for testing Windows UI applications. Collaborate with QA and application engineering teams to define/select tools for design/implementation of scalable automation solutions to streamline test execution and improve overall QA processes. Other responsibilities include extending automation to web-based applications and integrating with test management and tracking tools. The ideal candidate has expertise in implementation/support of automation frameworks (especially Windows UI), scripting/automating tests for Windows and Web applications, Quality Assurance best practices and strategies applying methods, tools, metrics SaaS/Cloud applications testing with strong understanding of infrastructure Team collaboration: Learning, and sharing knowledge/mentoring team members Implementation/support of automation frameworks to improve test effectiveness Development/implementation of UI Automation (Windows, Web Applications) Delivering innovations in testing for continuous improvements and efficiencies Programing or scripting languages (e.g. C#, .NET, JavaScript, Python, PowerShell) Knowledge of relational databases and building SQL queries Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure Experience with industry-specific ERP applications Experience with transit scheduling and operations management applications, such s HASTUS, Trapeze FX or Trapeze OPS is a plus. Contribute to defining the technology stack, infrastructure design, and testing approach; support scoping and specifying tool requirements for an effective automation framework. Collaborate with QA and Application Team members on advancing the automation strategies for the target project Evaluate solutions presented as a modular, scalable automation framework for Windows UI applications, with extensibility to Web UI applications. Define and establish core automation framework components/ integrations (test case management, object repository, logging, reporting, data-driven testing, config management) Help drive the evaluation of automation tools and libraries; create POCs and ROI analyses to select the most effective software stack for current and future needs Define adoption criteria and best practices for tool usage and test design Develop reliable, maintainable test suites (functional, regression, smoke) Implement parallel execution strategies and optimize for speed and stability Define/Enforce coding standards, and adherence to QA best practices Error management strategies, deterministic test data, environment controls Integrate with build pipelines (where applicable) and test management tools Automate test reporting and publish actionable metrics Partner with developers, QA analysts, and product owners to define testable requirements, acceptance criteria, and risk-based coverage Extend the framework to support web UI automation (e.g. Selenium) Assessment of tools for Web Load Testing as an extension of automation Enable unified reporting and artifact management across test suite types Produce clear documentation, samples, and onboarding materials; conduct training for QA engineers and stakeholders Mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement of QA Equal opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities While an hourly range is posted for this position, an eventual hourly rate is determined by a comprehensive salary analysis which considers multiple factors including but not limited to: job-related knowledge, skills and qualifications, education and experience as compared to others in the organization doing substantially similar work, if applicable, and market and business considerations.
