Forklift Operator (Part Time)

Job Title: Forklift Operator (Part-Time) Location: Rochester, NY Summary: Nesco Resource is seeking a dependable and detail-focused Forklift Operator for a union warehouse in Rochester, NY. This is a full-time, Direct Hire opportunity offering excellent long-term potential, including union benefits upon hire and guaranteed wage increases twice a year (January & July). This role starts with unloading inbound trucks and transitions into loading outbound shipments over time. The ideal candidate will have experience operating sit-down, counterbalanced electric forklifts , be comfortable using RF scanners , and demonstrate strong attention to detail—particularly when matching long serial numbers and ensuring accurate placement of product. Shift: 2nd Shift – 4:00/5:00 PM Start Time, Work Until Approx. 9:00 PM 4 Days Per Week, Fridays Are Mandatory Overtime is available on Saturdays. Senior employees are given first choice; if not claimed, junior employees may be required to work. Pay: $18.25 per hour to start Wage increases guaranteed twice annually (January & July) as part of the union pay structure Core Duties & Responsibilities: Operate sit-down, counterbalanced electric forklifts for unloading and eventually loading trucks Use RF scanners to track inventory and verify product placement Accurately match long serial numbers and follow staging protocols Ensure correct placement of materials in designated loading bays Follow safe stacking practices (e.g., avoid stacking heavy items on lighter ones) Think critically to arrange awkward-shaped pallets into trailers efficiently Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Comply with all warehouse, safety, and union policies Qualifications: Recent forklift operating experience required Stand-up forklift experience is a plus , but not required Strong attention to detail and ability to match alphanumeric codes Good math skills and common-sense decision making Punctuality, excellent attendance , and a positive attitude are a must Willingness to learn and grow in a team environment Prior experience with RF scanners is preferred Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Ability to sit, stand, bend, and twist for extended periods Work environment may include exposure to variable temperatures and warehouse conditions Nesco Resource offers a comprehensive benefits package for our associates, which includes a MEC (Minimum Essential Coverage) plan that encompasses Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services.
