Outpatient Surgery RN- OR The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Centers mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care. Position Summary: The Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. Minimum Education Required: 2-Year College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience desired. Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing. Current Ohio licensure or interim permit. Previous surgical center experience preferred. This position supports a surgical environment with six operating rooms and a wide range of service lines, including Orthopedics, Vascular, Otolaryngology, and Urology. Perioperative RNs may work in: Pre-Op and PACU, providing comprehensive pre- and post-procedure care Operating Room (OR) as a circulating RN, with opportunities to scrub based on competency Extended PACU, supporting ongoing post-operative monitoring and recovery The RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary team to promote patient safety, optimize surgical outcomes, and ensure an excellent patient and family experience.
