Upon completion, the role transitions into a permanent11:00 PM – 7:30 this role, you will own machining projects from start to finish — includingCAM programming, tooling selection, fixture design, CNC machining, inspection, and documentation . You will produce tight-tolerance parts for the Matter Compiler™ and collaborate closely with engineers and prototype machinists to drive innovation in Atomic Machines’ R&D shop.Key ResponsibilitiesInterpretengineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD modelsto develop machining plans.CreateCAM programsusing Fusion 360, Mastercam, HyperMill, or similar software.Operate a wide range of CNC machines, including:3-axis, 3+2, and5-axis CNC millsLive-tool CNC lathesWaterjets and laser cuttersMachine precision components to tolerances as tight as±0.0005" (±13 µm) .Develop customfixtures, tooling, and workholdingfor prototype manufacturing.Performin-process and final inspectionsusing calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM.Providedesign-for-manufacturing (DFM)feedback to engineering teams.Fabricate tooling, fixturing, and hardware for R&D assemblies.Document setups, offsets, inspection results, and best practices.Maintain an organized, clean, and safe machine shop environment.What You’ll Need3+ years of CNC machining experiencein a high-mix, low-volume, or R&D environment.Working knowledge of5-axis machiningor mill-turn systems.Proficiency with at least oneCAM platform(Fusion 360, Mastercam, HyperMill, etc.).StrongGD&T , blueprint reading, and tolerance interpretation skills ( Experience machiningaluminum, stainless steel, titanium , and similar materials.Skilled inmanual machining(mills, lathes, drill presses, saws).Welding certificationor welding experience strongly preferred.CMM or advanced metrology experience a plus.Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Why Join Atomic Machines✅ Build parts that support groundbreaking new micromanufacturing technology ✅ Work with advanced CNC and metrology equipment in a modern R&D shop ✅ Fast-moving, highly innovative engineering environment ✅ Competitive$47–$59 per hourcompensation ✅ Opportunity to produce components that have literally never been made before
